Merry Christmas!
This Christmas brought another sickness to our family :o( Addy started running a fever on Christmas Eve so we spent Christmas day at home relaxing. We went to dinner at grandma and grandpas because Addy was feeling a little better and there were no kids there for us to pass our germs to. It wasn't the Christmas we thought we would have but it was still great!
The girls on Christmas Eve
Santa came!
The girls opening the Wii!
Addy and her horse trailer.
Em and her bike.
And Daddy got a remote control helicopter!

Celebrating a Winter Birthday
My husband and I have August birthdays. As we were growing up we had birthday parties at the pool or a baseball game; we were on the playground or running through a sprinkler.
My oldest daughter has a December birthday. There aren’t any pool parties or baseball games to see in December. Every year I am at a loss as to what to do for her winter birthday. So, every year I have to goggle indoor party ideas. There are always parties at home, indoor bounce houses, puppet shows, science centers and gyms on the list. We've done a few of those parties but they can be pricey and I've found that most places include everything, which is nice in theory but I know that I can make a cheaper cake and find cheaper snacks then they want me to buy from them. When I searched for ideas last year I quickly crossed ideas off the list. The list doesn't change often.
One Saturday we went to see the $1.25 movie a Holiday Cinema in Frederick. When we got there my girls immediately bee lined (right past the ticket counter) to the little girl with the balloons and presents sitting in the foyer of the theater. I apologized to the ticket person as I ran past to grab my girls. OnceI drug my girls back we made it back we asked about the balloons and presents and he told us they were waiting to go up to the birthday party room. I asked about the party room and got some information from him. By the time the movie was over I was ready to sign us up for a party. It was everything we wanted in a party: not at our house, minimal room fee, $1.25 per kid, and we could bring as many or as few snacks as we wanted. The only reservation that we had was that they couldn’t guarantee which movie would be playing. They did tell us a few movies that might be playing and said that the movie would be appropriate for kids so we signed up!
On the day of Addy’s party everyone had a blast. We had a unicorn party right there in their party room complete with a unicorn cake, decorations, popcorn, candy and a drink (we decided to pay for the party packs for each kid). The kids had their own private movie theater, they ate snacks and we sang happy birthday as the movie played. As the movie ended we past out favors, packed up presents and headed home! That’s my kind of party!

Chalkboard Cabinets
When we moved into our house we had four cabinets along the back side of our peninsula cabinet.
The one on the far left is a real cabinet and the other three (two in the picture) are just fronts stapled on the cabinet. On the day that we brought Addyson home from the hospital the first cabinet fell off and since then another has also fallen off. They never got put back on.
Garth came up with the awesome idea of making the cabinets (since two were already off) magnetic chalkboards! We went back and forth about using the actually cabinets that match the rest of the cabinets. We went from the next owner might not want/like the chalkboards (yes, we will move out one day!!) to it's our house just paint them. We ended up deciding to buy new cabinet fronts. I found three cabinets at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It's actually perfect because we can take our chalkboard cabinets with us and just staple the old ones back up when we move.
We used Magnetic Primer , Chalkboard Paint , two paint trays, and two sponge rolls.
We sanded the inside panel.
We gave the cabinet three coats on Magnetic Primer and one coat of Chalkboard Paint.
Then we put them up!
The girls love them! And we have been cleaning chalk up every since!! I thought we might be able to use liquid chalk but I've read that it will ruin chalkboards that have been made using chalkboard paint. So, we will be cleaning chalk up until I find another solution! ;)

Glitter Nails
I saw this pin the other day on Pinterest and I wanted to give it a try!
I gathered everything and got started!
I used essie turquoise and caicos nail polish, glitter, top coat nail polish and two paintbrushes.
First, I painted my nails.
Then, I took one paint brush and painted the tip of my nail. I dipped the other paint brush into the top coat, then glitter and painted the tip of my nail again.
We went all out on Addyson's nails.
We did one final top coat and ended up with fun, summer nails!
