Chalkboard Cabinets

When we moved into our house we had four cabinets along the back side of our peninsula cabinet.

The one on the far left is a real cabinet and the other three (two in the picture) are just fronts stapled on the cabinet. On the day that we brought Addyson home from the hospital the first cabinet fell off and since then another has also fallen off.  They never got put back on.

Garth came up with the awesome idea of making the cabinets (since two were already off) magnetic chalkboards!  We went back and forth about using the actually cabinets that match the rest of the cabinets.  We went from the next owner might not want/like the chalkboards (yes, we will move out one day!!) to it's our house just paint them.  We ended up deciding to buy new cabinet fronts.  I found three cabinets at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It's actually perfect because we can take our chalkboard cabinets with us and just staple the old ones back up when we move.

We used Magnetic Primer , Chalkboard Paint , two paint trays, and two sponge rolls.

We sanded the inside panel.

We gave the cabinet three coats on Magnetic Primer and one coat of Chalkboard Paint.

Then we put them up!

The girls love them! And we have been cleaning chalk up every since!! I thought we might be able to use liquid chalk but I've read that it will ruin chalkboards that have been made using chalkboard paint.  So, we will be cleaning chalk up until I find another solution! ;)

Glitter Nails

I saw this pin the other day on Pinterest and I wanted to give it a try!

I gathered everything and got started!

I used essie turquoise and caicos nail polish, glitter, top coat nail polish and two paintbrushes.

First, I painted my nails.

Then, I took one paint brush and painted the tip of my nail.  I dipped the other paint brush into the top coat, then glitter and painted the tip of my nail again.

We went all out on Addyson's nails.

We did one final top coat and ended up with fun, summer nails!
